Dreaming of an English landscape? Here in Weespersluispark, that dream comes to life. This park is more than just green space. It is a central meeting place, the heart of Weespersluis.
Weespersluispark is one of the new parks designed to complement the polder landscape. The park is located in the Amsterdam district of Weesp. Weespersluis is a large new residential area under construction. Construction began in 2017. It is expected to be fully completed and inhabited by 2026 or 2027.
Henk Schuitemaker from VLUGP designed the Weespersluispark. He drew inspiration from classic city parks. Think of the Vondelpark, but with its own unique charm. Here you will find winding paths, rolling lawns, and grand, old trees.
The park will also feature a floral display in the center. This is a great open space. Here you can find picnic tables and benches. It is perfect for meeting new people. The park borders the water to the south. Treewillows provide a natural touch. A farmer’s ditch with knot willows and a meadow with flowering grass and fruit trees evoke the rural atmosphere. Space for sports and games is available on the west side. This is where the park connects to the Brede School. Children from the school and daycare center can play here.
Indeed the Kinderdagverblijf Weesperpark is designed as a pavilion in the park. Its architecture is inspired by the structure of trees. The wooden finish blends seamlessly with nature.
The park has an open character thanks to trees like maple, linden, and honey trees. You can walk through the park while running errands. A game of soccer or a spontaneous neighborhood barbecue is also possible. The park is a nice meeting place for young and old. It borders a school and daycare center. This makes it easy to take children to school via the park.
A component of the Gouw tour runs through the park. It is a cycling and walking route of approximately six kilometers. Perfect for jogging, cycling, or walking the dog.
Soak in the blend of nature and community here in Weespersluispark. This classic design and modern amenities create a unique destination. It provides a sense of nature while being close to Amsterdam.
