A slinky sculpture. A vibrant splash of color against Tripolis 300’s grey facade. This isn’t just any office building. This is Tripolis 300 in Amsterdam a testament to architectural vision.

Tripolis 300 is one of three towers forming the Tripolis complex. Designed by Aldo van Eyck in 1994 it’s a unique blend of functionality and artistry. Its unusual design even earned it municipal monument status in 2019.

Van Eyck believed offices should be meeting places not just sterile workspaces. He envisioned Tripolis as a mini-city each tower a distinct neighborhood. The building’s design reflects that philosophy. Notice the colorful window frames. They’re not mere decoration. They add personality and vibrancy to the building’s exterior.

Initially Tripolis struggled to attract tenants. Van Eyck’s vision proved difficult to adapt to standard office practices. However the complex found new life thanks to Flow Real Estate. They undertook a major redevelopment project turning Tripolis into a modern and desirable workspace.

The renovation preserved many of Van Eyck’s original features including the central staircases and natural stone flooring. New elements were added carefully blending modern needs with the building’s unique character. Uber and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek are just a few of the prestigious companies now calling Tripolis home.

Look closely. You can see where the old meets the new. Delicate glass walls connect old and new sections. These create a seamless flow between the renovated towers and the newly constructed Het Venster building. This careful integration showcases a thoughtful respect for Van Eyck’s legacy.

Tripolis 300 is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a symbol of architectural innovation a story of preservation and reinvention. It’s a building that has evolved to meet the demands of the modern world while preserving its unique soul. This dynamic space continues to thrive in Amsterdam’s vibrant landscape.
