Curious about a place where city life fades and farm life begins? This is Stadsboerderij Darwinpark. In 1967 Albert Heijn gifted this special place to the youth of Zaandam. It was the largest children’s farm in the Netherlands at the time.
Stadsboerderij Darwinpark has changed a lot since then. Animals have come and gone but many remain. You will find farm animals here like calves and ponies. There are also sheep, goats, and lots of chickens and birds.
But Stadsboerderij Darwinpark offers more than just the usual farm animals. A special space houses unique creatures. You can marvel at a tarantula, two bearded dragons, axolotls, and turtles. These animals offer an opportunity to learn about different species.
More than 100000 people visit Stadsboerderij Darwinpark every year. Since 2021 visitors can also enjoy the challenging nature playground. It adds another layer of fun and adventure to the farm experience.
The ZNMC staff leads farm lessons. Many school groups participate each year. These lessons provide valuable education about animals and nature.

Stadsboerderij Darwinpark is open from Tuesday to Sunday. The opening hours are from 10:00 to 17:00. The farm is closed on New Year’s Day, King’s Day, and the two Christmas holidays.
