“Sprakeloos” it whispers. That’s what “Senza Parole” means. Right here before you stands this remarkable artwork. It’s a testament to the beauty of contrasting materials. Created by Bert van Loo this glass and granite masterpiece sits proudly on the Osdorpplein.

Bert van Loo a talented sculptor who sadly passed away in 2016 was renowned for his innovative use of glass. He didn’t just shape it. He carved and broke the stacked glass plates. This creates an uneven surface where light dances and plays.

The rough robust granite provides a stunning counterpoint to the delicate glass. The combination is unexpected. It is visually arresting. Van Loo’s skill is evident in the way he juxtaposes these materials. He creates a dialogue without a single word. The artwork is more than just glass and stone. It is a study in contrasts a visual poem.

Originally created around 1997 or 1998 the Senza Parole sculptures have faced challenges. In 2023 a part of the glass broke. Repairing the damage has proven difficult. The stacked glass requires specialized knowledge. Unfortunately the artist’s expertise died with him. The delay has frustrated local residents. They eagerly await its restoration.

But look closer. Notice the way the light catches the glass. Feel the cool smooth surface of the granite. This is not simply an art piece. This is an experience. An invitation to pause appreciate the subtle beauty of seemingly opposing elements. Senza Parole. Wordless yet powerfully expressive. It speaks volumes.
