S.V. Terrasvogels

Established on April 17, 1940, S.V. Terrasvogels stands as a testament to Santpoort’s rich sporting heritage. Originally envisioned as a football club, S.V. Terrasvogels expanded its horizons to embrace softball and baseball. The club’s colors, blue and white, symbolize the unity and spirit of its members. S.V. Terrasvogels calls Sportpark De Elta its home. This location holds a unique history, nestled behind the former neighborhood of De Elta. This neighborhood, sadly now demolished, was named by its first residents after the First Aviation Exhibition Amsterdam (Eerste Luchtvaart Tentoonstelling Amsterdam or “ELTA”). The sports park inherited this evocative name, keeping the memory of the neighborhood alive. For the first decade of its existence, S.V. Terrasvogels played on a field at the end of Terrasweg. The team then embarked on a somewhat nomadic journey before finally settling at Sportpark De Elta. This happened in 1963, when the municipality of Velsen transformed several meadows behind De Elta into a dedicated sports ground. The softball department of S.V. Terrasvogels was established later, on July 21, 1958. The women’s team achieved remarkable success, becoming one of the most accomplished teams in the Netherlands and Europe. They secured fifteen national championship titles and triumphed in nine European Cup I competitions and five European Cup II tournaments. In November 2020, the softball department merged with the softball branch of the sports club RKSV Onze Gezellen. This meant all softball members of S.V. Terrasvogels began playing under the Onze Gezellen banner. Despite this transition, the spirit of S.V. Terrasvogels continues, especially in its football pursuits. Starting in the 2020/21 season, the standard team began competing in the Saturday division of amateur football. They began their journey in the Fourth Class of the KNVB district West-I, the lowest level in the district. This move made S.V. Terrasvogels one of the numerous clubs that made the switch from Sunday to Saturday football. S.V. Terrasvogels remains an integral part of the Santpoort community, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship. It’s a club where athletic pursuits and social activities intertwine, creating a vibrant hub for both players and supporters.
