1962. A cornerstone is laid. This is the beginning of our story about Pfarrkirche St. Heinrich und Kunigunde in Pentling. Domkapitular Prälat August Kuffner performed this important act, initiating the rise of this modern marvel. Fast forward a few months to February 1963. The framework of Pfarrkirche St. Heinrich und Kunigunde reaches for the sky. The topping-out ceremony marked a significant step towards its completion. Then, in June of the same year, the church tower reached its full height of 37 meters. The Pfarrkirche St. Heinrich und Kunigunde isn’t just a building. It represents the dedication of a community and the enduring spirit of faith. While this modern structure stands in contrast to the ancient stories of its patron saints, the connection to Emperor Heinrich II and his wife Kunigunde adds a layer of historical depth. Heinrich II, born near Regensburg in 973, became King of Germany and later Holy Roman Emperor. He and Kunigunde, married in 995, were known for their commitment to church reform and their dedication to a just society. Their story echoes within these walls, a reminder of the power of faith and service. The Pfarrkirche St. Heinrich und Kunigunde serves not only as a place of worship, but also as a testament to the enduring legacy of its namesakes. It bridges the centuries, connecting the modern community with the rich tapestry of history.
