Did Parra & Romero always reside in this quaint village? No. Parra & Romero found its first home in the bustling art scene of Madrid in 2005. The gallery, the brainchild of Guillermo Romero Parra, quickly became known for its dedication to pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. It sought out the spaces between conceptual and minimal art, a playground for emerging and mid-career artists. About eight times a year, the gallery walls would transform, showcasing the cutting edge of the art world. Parra & Romero’s reputation grew, spilling beyond the confines of Madrid and onto the international art fair circuit. Then, in 2012, Parra & Romero took a leap of faith. Drawn to the heart of rural Ibiza, they established a unique space. Not just another gallery, but a sanctuary for site-specific projects. It became a magnet for artists, curators, and art enthusiasts, all drawn to the allure of creation and discourse in this idyllic setting. A decade later, Parra & Romero further solidified its Ibiza connection. In 2022, they opened a permanent gallery on the main street of Santa Gertrudis. This wasn’t just a strategic move, it was a homage. This new space on the island echoed a sentiment from Ibiza’s past. In the 1930s, Ibiza was a haven for intellectuals, a sanctuary for creative minds. Parra & Romero’s presence in Santa Gertrudis is a testament to that legacy. It seeks to rekindle the spirit of dialogue and artistic exploration that once flourished on this island.
