Pierced by the sea, Sa Foradada stands defiant. It’s a rock formation that has captured hearts for centuries. Welcome to Sa Foradada.

Sa Foradada is easily spotted. Look at century-old maps of Mallorca. You will find Sa Foradada marked clearly. It juts out of the northwest coastline. Many admire it from vantage points around Deia.

The name Sa Foradada means the perforated one. It comes from the large hole. The hole is 18 meters wide. It creates a natural eye. This eye offers a unique perspective.

How do you reach this remote beach? You can walk or come by boat. The path zigzags through olive terraces. It offers beautiful views. The walk is about 3 km each way. It takes about an hour downhill. Going back up takes a little longer.

Another way to visit Sa Foradada is by boat. Boats leave from the Port de Soller in the summer months.

Once you arrive, crystal-clear waters await. Snorkeling is a must.

In the past, small houses hid smugglers. They are in the pine woods. Bird watchers find delight here. Virots, cormorants, gulls and sea eagles fly around Sa Foradada.

At the end of the path, a restaurant awaits. Restaurante Sa Foradada offers splendid views. It overlooks the rock and the Mediterranean. Enjoy a drink or paella. The restaurant opens around lunchtime. It closes on Thursdays. Reservations are recommended. It is a bit pricey. You pay for the extra experience.

The estate of Son Marroig is significant. It was once home to Archduke Luis Salvador. He documented wildlife on the island. Next to the parking, you’ll see an iron gate marked Sa Foradada. Pass through to start your walk. The path was created by the Archduke himself.

Sunset at Mirador de Sa Foradada is breathtaking. The spectacular view stretches out to sea. This viewpoint is the starting point for the walk down to Sa Foradada.

Sa Foradada is more than a rock. It is an experience. The hike. The views. The sea. The food. It’s a memory etched in stone.
