Ever smelled the crisp air of an oak forest? Welcome to Natuurcamping Schoonenberg. This isn’t just a campsite. It’s a haven. A tranquil escape nestled in the heart of the Randstad. Imagine waking up to the songs of robins and the rustling of leaves.
Natuurcamping Schoonenberg is a family-run business. Daphne Walker and Mike Snijders manage this little slice of paradise. They’re siblings helped by family during peak seasons. This campsite boasts a unique charm. It’s entirely car-free. Peace and nature are paramount here.
The camping ground is divided into two lanes. Each lane has spaces bordered by greenery. Some spots offer electricity others are purely nature-focused. There are also small fields perfect for groups. Tent campers have their own field. It features a central campfire pit for communal roasting of marshmallows and bread.
Campers are welcome too up to 6.5 meters long. A modern sanitary building was added in 2023. It includes warm showers all included in the price. The campsite is alive with nature. Many birds live here. Koolmeesjes and roodborstjes are common. Vlaamse gaaien eksters and spechten are also sighted regularly. A pair of buzzards circles overhead. They hunt pigeons especially during the quieter seasons. Mr Fox also makes an appearance from time to time. So be wary of leaving rubbish bags out at night.
In the high season you might spot a red squirrel. The campsite is situated within a large oak forest. A huge variety of trees and plants thrive here. Large beeches yews and wild jasmine are among them.
The beach and the Spaarnwoude recreational area are a short 5-kilometer drive away. Amsterdam and Haarlem are also easily accessible by car or train. The Kennemerduinen dunes are just around the corner. Dogs are welcome. They can run around just outside the campsite. They can also enjoy the beach at IJmuiderslag year-round. Even kite surfers find their paradise at IJmuiderslag.
Natuurcamping Schoonenberg. More than just a campsite. It’s an experience. A place to reconnect with nature and unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life. A memory to treasure.
