Opened in 2013, Museum Perron Oost whispers stories of Amsterdam’s Oostelijk Havengebied (Eastern Docklands). It’s situated in a former station master’s house, part of a monument designed by Joep van Lieshout. This monument, featuring a platform, the small house, rails, and a train car, was erected in 1993. It serves as a tribute to the area’s industrial past. Museum Perron Oost is known as one of the smallest museums in the world. It’s so compact that you can view the entire exhibition through the windows. Inside, rotating exhibitions showcase the stories of past and present residents of the Eastern Docklands. Beyond the physical space, Museum Perron Oost extends its reach with Radio Perron Oost. The online radio station broadcasts interviews with residents and visitors, adding another layer to the museum’s narrative. You can also explore the area’s history with the audio tour, “The Disappeared Track,” available on the izi.TRAVEL app. This tour begins right here at the platform of Museum Perron Oost and delves into the rich history of Cruquius Island.
