The Levend Evangelie Gemeente emerged from the Hervormde Dorpskerk about 35 years ago. Some members wanted to experience God more fully. They sought to integrate new ideas from America into their church.
These members included Cor Dekkers, Wulf van Dam, and Matthijs Piet. They found the existing structure too restrictive. Eventually, they decided to form their own community.
Initially, the Levend Evangelie Gemeente met in a building called Het Middelpunt in Aalsmeer Oost. Soon, they acquired a spacious building near the Ringvaart. Here they created a modern church.
