On April 26th, 1895, a seed was planted. This seed would blossom into one of the Netherlands’ most celebrated field hockey clubs: HC Bloemendaal. Right here, at Sportpark ‘t Kopje, the echoes of triumph and the whispers of close calls intertwine. HC Bloemendaal wasn’t always the powerhouse it is today. It began as the Haarlemsche Hockey & Bandy Club. They even played bandy, imagine that! The club’s journey is a tapestry woven with mergers and name changes. It’s a story of ambition and evolution. In 1907, the Bloemendaalsche Hockey Club emerged, followed by the Haarlemsche Hockey Vereeniging De Musschen. These clubs, along with the original Haarlemsche Hockey & Bandy Club, eventually merged to form the entity we know today: HC Bloemendaal. The “Mus” from De Musschen is still visible in the club’s logo. HC Bloemendaal’s men’s team has clinched the Hoofdklasse title a staggering 22 times. Their trophy cabinet gleams with victories spanning decades, from the early 1900s to their recent triumphs in 2021 and 2022. They’ve also tasted European glory, winning the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup twice. This club isn’t just about the men’s game. The women’s team also contributes to HC Bloemendaal’s vibrant legacy. They etched their name in history by winning the Gold Cup in the 2017-2018 season. HC Bloemendaal stands as a testament to dedication, passion, and the unifying power of sport.
