A steel giant against the sky. That’s the Bintangsbrug. This isn’t just any bridge. It’s a 60-meter long 3.5-meter wide masterpiece in Beverwijk. Opened on April 17 2024 it connects the Binnenduin neighborhood. More than a simple walkway for pedestrians and cyclists. The Bintangsbrug is a tribute to the Bintangs. This legendary Indonesian-named band is one of the Netherlands’ oldest pop groups. Their name means stars. They formed in 1961. They played indorock then moved to a raw rhythm and blues. Their energetic performances earned them a comparison to the Rolling Stones. Gus Pleines’ Mick Jagger-esque vocals added to their impact. The bridge’s design incorporates art by Harriët van Reek. It’s a modern marvel built with Haasnoot Bruggen’s ThorcaBridge system. Holland Dynamics BV handled the design and engineering. The bridge’s foundations and abutments were Haasnoot Bruggen BV’s responsibility. Councillor Ali Bal officially opened the Bintangsbrug. The celebration included a spectacular Bintangs performance. So stand here. Feel the history. See the stars reflected in the steel of the Bintangsbrug. This bridge isn’t just connecting paths. It connects generations and musical legacies. A modern marvel honoring a legendary band. A true symbol of Beverwijk’s vibrant past and future.
