The chestnut ring features both young and ancient trees. Children love the Pierenbad with its bronze mermaid and mussel shell fountain. It’s open from May to early September. Entry is free. The Parool newspaper even voted it Amsterdam’s best Pierenbadje in 2006. There’s also a relaxing lawn and a great playground with a large sandpit.

The northern section of Beatrixpark holds a special status. It’s been on the municipal monument list since 2005. The layout pathways waterways and groves are protected. Individual trees are not. Several buildings on the park’s edge are also protected. These include the former St Nicholas Monastery and the impressive Princesseflat.

Beatrixpark has hosted music festivals. In 2009 and 2011 opera theater salsa jazz and 1960s-70s music filled the air. Children participated in art activities.

The park has some rules. Dogs are not allowed. Open fires are prohibited. Bicycles must be parked at racks unless used on the bike paths. Disruptive alcohol consumption is also banned.
