Barry Hulshoff, born Bernardus Adriaan Hulshoff, graced the world on September 30, 1946. Deventer in the Netherlands was his birthplace. He passed away on February 16, 2020 in Abcoude.

He was more than just a footballer. Hulshoff was a key figure in Ajax’s golden era. This Ajax team dominated European football in the early 1970s.

Hulshoff played as a defender for Ajax from 1965 to 1977. He was an important part of the team. Ajax won the European Cup three times. These victories occurred in 1971, 1972, and 1973.

He debuted for Ajax on January 9, 1966. The game was against Feyenoord. Rinus Michels recognized Hulshoff’s talent. He made him a central defender. First, he played alongside Velibor Vasović. Later, he played with Horst Blankenburg.

Barry Hulshoff was also a Dutch international player. He earned 14 caps for the Netherlands. In those matches, he scored six goals.

After his successful playing career, Hulshoff transitioned into coaching. Briefly in 1988, he coached Ajax. He also managed several Belgian teams. These included Lierse SK and Eendracht Aalst.

In 2004, Hulshoff became the technical director for Ajax America. From 2012, he served as assistant coach at KVC Westerlo.

In 2010, Hulshoff joined Ajax’s members council. Johan Cruijff had called for more former players to get involved.

Before his death, Barry Hulshoff worked as an agent. In 2016, he represented Matthijs de Ligt. From 2018, he worked with Mino Raiola.
