In 2011 AMOS was founded. It began in the building of the Bne Akiwa youth association. This was on the border of Amsterdam and Amstelveen. AMOS needed a place where everyone could be themselves. The synagogue welcomed everyone. This included regular and occasional visitors. It was a place for the devout and the less devout. Young and old were equally welcome. Equality for every visitor was fundamental to AMOS. No one was too pious. No one was not pious enough. AMOS aimed to inspire and engage everyone. People could participate in services in their own way. AMOS wanted to make synagogue a positive experience. This was focused on participation. They encouraged singing and involvement in the service. To truly understand AMOS you have to experience it. The best thing is to attend an event and experience AMOS for yourself. Today AMOS is the Amsterdam Modern Orthodox synagogue.
