“Office building turned apartments.” That’s the short story of Flierbos. This building you see before you has quite the transformation tale.
Once upon a time in 2001 this very spot was occupied by the Amsterdam Tax Office. Can you imagine the paperwork that flowed through these walls? Fast forward to March 2017 and Doniger acquired the building.
It sits at the junction of Bijlmerdreef and Flierbosdreef. It is directly opposite the ING Bank’s international headquarters. Doniger envisioned something different than taxes being processed here. They saw a residential complex.
The municipality of Amsterdam approved a new plan. The old office building was transformed. Two floors were even added to the top. Construction began in 2020. By the fourth quarter of 2022 the transformation of Flierbos was complete.
This development created 397 apartments. They range in size from 32 to 48 square meters. This adheres to Amsterdam’s housing and sustainability policies. Around 70% of these apartments have regulated rents.
But what about the ground floor? The plinth level offers 2700 square meters of lettable floor area. Here you find catering facilities. You will also see a fitness center. There are other amenities as well.
Now, let’s step inside for a moment in our imagination. Picture fully furnished studios. Each has its own kitchen and bathroom. Residents can move in without a fuss.
There are shared facilities too. A spacious lounge invites residents to relax. A laundry room simplifies chores.
Underneath Flierbos you’ll discover a bike cellar. Bikes stay safe and sound. Parking options also exist nearby.
Doing laundry is easy. The modern laundry room features efficient machines. The Pay2Wash app makes operation simple. Payment is easy too.
Packages? No problem. The MyPup Pick Up Point ensures secure delivery. Returns are just as simple. Couriers pick them up directly. The MyPup app unlocks lockers.
Flierbos is centrally located. It provides access to key amenities. Cafés and museums are within easy reach. It offers a practical living environment in Amsterdam.
So next time you pass by Flierbos remember its journey. From tax office to modern apartments it has adapted to Amsterdam’s needs. It now provides homes and facilities for its residents.
