“90 years of stories echo here” I thought. Sportvereniging Assendelft, or SVA Assendelft, isn’t just a sports club. It’s a cornerstone of the community. Founded on July 15, 1932, SVA Assendelft has deep roots in Assendelft. It’s located in Noord-Holland and plays in the West I district.
The club’s grounds, Sportpark SVA, are more than just fields. They are meeting places. The park includes four fields. There is a mix of surfaces. Fields one and three boast artificial turf with rubber granulate. Field two offers a classic grass surface. A mini-arena, field four, also features artificial turf.

Since the 2022-2023 season, SVA Assendelft has a new field layout. Near the main entrance is the wedstrijdsecretariaat. This serves as the central hub for team managers and officials. The fields are divided for youth games. They use half fields labeled A and B. The youngest players use quarter fields labeled A1 and B1.
A unique aspect of SVA Assendelft is the “Club van 50”. This isn’t just any club. It is the event committee. It consists of enthusiastic SVA members. They present a yearly program of activities. These are for all ages.
The Club van 50 has a history. On July 4, 1964, during a members meeting, the idea arose to seek 50 people. Each would donate 10 gulden annually. This would support SVA. Before this, there was a “Commissie Rood-Wit”. They collected contributions and gave gifts to SVA. Gifts included furniture or a ball for the first team. Joop van der Laan initiated the “Club van 50”. Over the years, the club has organized events. These included monthly klaverjas evenings.
Today, the Club van 50 has 12 members. There is a mix of experienced and new members. In 2022, the club planned to organize events for the 90th anniversary.
