Overlooking the serene landscape, Uitkijkpunt Tespelduyn stands tall. It’s a hidden gem within National Park Hollandse Duinen. The regional walking and cycling network leads you right to it. The viewpoint’s story begins in 2005. The municipality of Noordwijk expressed the need for a place where people could truly appreciate the beauty of the area. Their wish aligned perfectly with the Area Program B(l)oeiend Bollenstreek. This program aimed to create “more experience opportunities” for everyone. Uitkijkpunt Tespelduyn became a reality thanks to a collaborative effort. The municipality of Noordwijk, the province of South Holland, the Holland Rijnland partnership, and Tespelduyn itself all contributed. Godelieve Mars, Program Manager of Noordwijk, expressed her delight at the viewpoint’s completion. She highlighted Tespelduyn as one of the twenty “pearls” of the area program. The goal was to make these special places shine. They wanted to provide opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with the history and landscape. Georgette Leltz, program director, described Uitkijkpunt Tespelduyn as a “wonderful addition” to the area. She noted the anticipation for the official status of National Park Hollandse Duinen. The viewpoint is a testament to the beauty and potential of the region. It’s a place to pause, take a deep breath, and enjoy the panoramic view.
