Established in 1960 as the Christelijke HBS-B the Pieter Nieuwland College stands proudly before you. Its history is rich. It’s a tale of transformation and community. Originally a Christian secondary school it evolved. In 1968 it became the Christelijke Scholengemeenschap Oost. By 1975 it was the Chr. Scholengemeenschap Amsterdam Oost. Finally in 1986 it adopted its current name. The Pieter Nieuwland College a tribute to the eponymous 18th-century Amsterdammer. Pieter Nieuwland a renowned sailor astronomer philosopher and poet.
