The Benno Premselabrug connects it to Diemer Vijfhoek and beyond. The Pampuslaan connects it to Haveneiland. More bridges are planned including the Annemie Wolffbrug connecting it to Strandeiland. Centrumeiland boasts another unique feature. Its street names are inspired by resistance against Dutch colonialism. The street names honor individuals and concepts connected to struggles in the Dutch East Indies Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles. This reflects Amsterdam’s commitment to social justice and its colonial past. The street names were chosen in consultation with experts and community stakeholders.
