It acted as a flood barrier, keeping the southern Starnmeerpolder dry during inundations. It also provided a strategic position for artillery. Although large sections have been removed, this dike once stretched from the Knollendammervaart to the Markerpolder dike. Today, Fort bij Marken-Binnen embraces a more peaceful existence. During the week, it transforms into a training center, hosting safety courses like first aid and company emergency response. Come the weekend, Fort bij Marken-Binnen throws open its doors to a world of fun. Escape rooms, laser games, even Ubisoft VR escape games offer thrills for friends and families. Children’s parties become unforgettable with simulated fire drills led by real firemen. The fort also hosts weddings and corporate events.
