Amidst the vibrant art scene of São Paulo, the Zipper Galeria beckons. It’s a space where emerging talent finds its voice. Founded in 2010 by Fabio Cimino, Zipper Galeria aimed to showcase new artists in the Brazilian and Latin American art world. The gallery quickly became a meeting point for contemporary artists working in diverse mediums. These include painting, sculpture, photography, video, installations, and new media. Zipper Galeria isn’t just a place to view art. It’s a dynamic platform that fosters creativity and nurtures artistic development. Fabio Cimino, a veteran of the Brazilian art market since 1983, has played a crucial role in launching and supporting many prominent artists. He brings his decades of experience as a dealer, art consultant, and gallerist to the Zipper Galeria. In 2013, Lucas Cimino joined the gallery as a partner, adding his expertise to the leadership team. That same year, Zipper Galeria received accolades. The newspaper Folha de S.Paulo recognized it as one of the best galleries of the year in their “The Best of 2013” special. The gallery also initiated projects like Zip’Up in 2011. This program, along with the “Hall of Artists without Galleries” started in 2012, further solidified Zipper Galeria’s commitment to emerging artists. These initiatives provide opportunities for artists who haven’t yet gained representation in São Paulo’s commercial galleries. Zipper Galeria has also featured notable artists like Janaina Mello Landini, Flávia Junqueira, Adriana Duque, and Fernando Velázquez throughout its history. It has exhibited works by artists like Gustavo Rezende, Camille Kachani, Hildebrando de Castro, Mario Ramiro, and Graciela Sacco. Zipper Galeria also embraces sustainability. It’s a member of the Gallery Climate Coalition. The gallery also uses solar power and participates in reforestation efforts with SOS Mata Atlântica. In 2021, Zipper Galeria ventured into the digital art world. It became one of the first galleries in Brazil to sell NFTs. That same year, the gallery launched Zipper Open. This project focuses on the secondary art market, providing another avenue for art enthusiasts and collectors.
