“A castle near Prague?” one of you might ask. Yes, right here in front of us stands Zámek Pakoměřice. It may not be as grand as Prague Castle, but it holds its own unique charm and a captivating history. The first written record of Pakoměřice dates back to 1357, mentioning a humble village. By 1440, a fortified structure stood here. The Baroque-style castle you see today replaced the remnants of this older fortress, a testament to the changing architectural tastes. For almost a century, Zámek Pakoměřice was home to the prominent Nostic family, leaving an undeniable mark on the estate’s legacy. Unfortunately, their reign ended in 1945 when their property was confiscated. Today, the castle stands as a reminder of bygone eras, hinting at grand balls and whispered secrets within its walls. While it’s currently undergoing renovations, imagine the stories these walls could tell if they could speak.
