Have you ever felt the melancholic weight of a city? The Z vlastního rozhodnutí Installation is a street lamp, but it’s something more than just a light in the night. You stand before it, in Folimanka Park, beneath the imposing shadow of the Nusle Bridge, a structure known for its sad history. For years, people have taken their own lives by jumping from the bridge, and the installation, created by artist Krištof Kintera, pays tribute to those lost souls. The lamp curves upwards, its light focused on the looming concrete bridge above. A simple plaque reads “Memento mori – for those who took their own lives in this place.” It serves as a poignant reminder of the sadness that sometimes lingers in the heart of a city, reminding us that life is fragile and precious. But it also offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting that even in the darkest of times, there is still a light that can guide us.
