Nestled in the eastern embrace of Warsaw’s Wesoła district lies Wola Grzybowska. It’s a place where time whispers tales of transformation, from a humble folwark to a vibrant neighborhood. Wola Grzybowska started as a small settlement belonging to the Okuniew municipality. Legend claims a Warsawian starost named Grzybowski once owned this land, lending his name to the area. By the early 20th century, Wola Grzybowska, along with central Wesoła and Groszówka, fell under the ownership of Prince Emanuel Bułhak. He resided in Italy, primarily visiting Poland to oversee land sales as the area grew. A local administrator managed the estate, also serving as a physician. In the interwar period, this role was filled by Henryk Cieślikiewicz, who lived in the physician’s house within Wola Grzybowska. A fire brigade was established in 1905 under the prince’s initiative. A 1931 census documented 52 houses in Wola Grzybowska. World War II brought significant destruction. The resilient community rebuilt, and in 1969, Wola Grzybowska became part of Wesoła. Today, Wola Grzybowska continues to evolve, a testament to the enduring spirit of its people. The train station, Warszawa Wola Grzybowska, connects this neighborhood to the wider world. It offers convenient access to Warsaw and beyond.
