The Wilson Heights United Church has been a beacon of faith in Vancouver for over a century. The story of this church is as rich as its history, and even more so, its cultural significance. While it is now a part of a larger congregation, having amalgamated with Oakridge United Church in 2023, Wilson Heights United has a remarkable past. It began its journey in 1910 as the Wilson Road Methodist Church. The congregation grew rapidly and a new church was built and dedicated in 1912. This church was named Wilson Heights Methodist Church. In 1925, the congregation joined the United Church of Canada, and changed its name once again to the Wilson Heights United Church, the name it still bears today. While it amalgamated with Oakridge in 2023, the Wilson Heights spirit remains strong. It is a reminder of a vibrant community, of faith, and of the enduring power of religious life in Vancouver.
