Welcome to Willi-Frank-Park a vibrant green space in Vienna’s Margareten district. This isn’t just any park. It’s a testament to resilience and a playful tribute to its namesake. Willi-Frank-Park was redesigned in 2022. It now boasts a dazzling array of water features.

The centerpiece is a unique Wipp-pumpe. This is a spiral water spout. It’s mounted on a 25-meter-high mast. Children can activate it by simply pushing a lever on the ground. Ingenious isn’t it? Nearby are two fountain heads. These in turn trigger four bubbling ground water jets on the opposite side. A playful spouting whale adds to the aquatic fun.

But Willi-Frank-Park is more than just water. It features a colorful planting scheme. This includes a shrub area with automatic watering. The undergrowth is bursting with brightly colored flowering shrubs. Two white ash trees stand tall. They provide shade and beauty. There are also four Amelanchier trees. These are known for their abundant blossoms. They provide a feast for insects. Near the ping pong table sits a Parrotia persica. A tulip tree provides natural shade.

The children’s playground was also expanded in 2022. The old sandbox was replaced with a new water play area. Even small children can easily operate this new fountain. The old sandbox was transformed into a large sand and mud play area. New climbing and balancing equipment further enhances the fun. Benches and tables invite parents to relax while their children play.

Willi-Frank-Park is named after Harald Willi Frank. He was a resistance fighter. He died on February 19 1945 fighting for the liberation of Austria. The park. It serves as a fitting memorial.
