Founded in 1864 this iconic club has witnessed countless matches. Its early days saw contests between teams from Cape Town Wynberg Claremont Rondebosch and Diocesan College. The Western Province Cricket Club wasn’t just about the games. It owned the legendary Newlands Cricket Ground a venue that hosted international first-class and List A cricket for decades. While the club sold Newlands to the Western Province Cricket Association in 2002 it still owns the Members’ Pavilion. This impressive structure holds 2400 members and their guests ensuring comfortable viewing of thrilling matches.

But the story doesn’t end there. In 2003 the club opened its Sports Centre in Rondebosch. This impressive facility sits on 8 hectares of park-like land. Members enjoy a wide range of amenities including squash tennis bowls a gym and running facilities. The grounds boast a stunning view of the surrounding landscape.

The club’s current executive committee is made up of dedicated individuals passionate about the club’s continued success. Steve Palframan leads as Chairman supported by Llew Byrne as Vice-Chairman and Finance Officer. Michael Dixon manages Operations Brendan Commins oversees Facilities while Giancarlo Puccini is responsible for Membership. Lenore Fuller holds the role of Club Captain.
