Tucked away in the heart of Retreat, Our Lady of Perpetual Help stands as a testament to faith and community. This isn’t just any church. It’s a place brimming with history, a place fondly known as St Mary’s. Our Lady of Perpetual Help first opened its doors in 1934. The current church building, however, dates back to 1953. It was later dedicated in 2003. This tells us that the church has continuously served the community, evolving and growing along with it. The church is more than just a building. It is a vibrant hub of activity. Daily masses are held Monday through Friday at 8:00 am. Weekend masses are celebrated on Saturday evenings at 5:30 pm and Sundays at 7:30 am and 10:30 am. If you find yourself here on a Tuesday evening, you can participate in the Rosary at 7:00 pm, followed by the Novena and Benediction at 7:30 pm. Our Lady of Perpetual Help also houses various ministries and societies, including the Pastoral Council, Finance Council, CWL, Catechetics, Legion of Mary, SVP, Youth groups, Readers, Pioneers, and the Catholic Men’s Ministry. This demonstrates the church’s commitment to serving the community’s diverse needs. It provides a space for spiritual growth, social connection, and community service. The Redemptorists play a significant role in the life of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. They also have connections with St Mary’s School and St Clement’s School in Lotus River, as well as the Carmel of St Joseph. Our Lady of Perpetual Help isn’t simply a place of worship. It is a cornerstone of the community. It is a place where faith comes alive, history is preserved, and people connect.
