Gadigal people once thrived here. This land was their wetland and forest. Now, we stand in Waterloo, a suburb named for a distant battle.

Waterloo. The name echoes across continents. It marks the 1815 defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte. Allied forces triumphed at the Battle of Waterloo. William Hutchison honored this victory. He named his local land grant Waterloo Estate.
