Along the Nepean River stands Wallacia. A suburb of Sydney it boasts a rich history. Initially called Riverview the area was renamed after Robert Wallace. He grazed cattle on land he rented. His house became a makeshift post office in 1885.

Wallacia’s history includes a flour mill and brewery. The mill failed due to problems with the wheat. Grove Farm was purchased to halt brewing. The farm later became known as Baines Hill. A brass plaque marks the highest recorded Nepean River flood in 1873. It shows the water level at Grove Farm.
