Established in 2002, Wai Lan Rehabilitation Centre isn’t your typical correctional facility. It’s a place of transformation, a minimum-security institution dedicated to rehabilitating young female offenders. Located at Blocks A & B, 18 Tai Lam Chung Road, in the New Territories, Wai Lan Rehabilitation Centre serves as a stepping stone for those who have completed Phase I training at Chi Lan Rehabilitation Centre. The center focuses on providing these young women with the tools and support they need to reintegrate into society. Wai Lan Rehabilitation Centre operates under the Rehabilitation Centres Ordinance. It offers various programs designed to address the underlying causes of criminal behavior. These may include counseling, vocational training, and educational opportunities. The center’s aim is to empower the residents to make positive changes in their lives. Visitors are welcome at Wai Lan Rehabilitation Centre. Social visits can be scheduled online through the Correctional Services Department’s e-Booking Service. The service allows bookings up to seven days in advance, offering flexibility for families and friends. Visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. For security reasons, visitors should arrive no earlier than 8:30 a.m. and must register 30 minutes before the end of visiting hours. Even official visits can be booked online. The e-Booking system streamlines the process. It allows registered users to schedule appointments without phone calls. This same system also allows for changes, cancellations, and inquiries. Official visits also follow the 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. schedule. Visitors for these are advised to arrive 30 minutes early for registration but no earlier than 9:00 a.m. The center’s phone number, 2403 0100, is available from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for any inquiries. Wai Lan Rehabilitation Centre represents a crucial part of Hong Kong’s correctional system. It emphasizes rehabilitation and offers a chance for a fresh start.
