The Schlick family, prominent figures in the region’s history, owned Vysoký Újezd from 1693 to 1883. The castle sits within the municipality of Vysoký Újezd in the Beroun District, a village first documented in 1310. Today, the municipality boasts a population of around 1,800 inhabitants. It’s a quiet area about 10 kilometers east of Beroun and a mere 11 kilometers southwest of Prague. While the castle might be quiet, Vysoký Újezd isn’t just about history.
