Vincent Massey Day Care & Nursery School occupies a building with a rich past. It began life in 1929 as Daisy Avenue Public School. This Collegiate Gothic style building was designed by architect George Roper Gouinlock. The school thrived for decades. It even saw additions in 1955 and 1963-64.

The school was renamed Vincent Massey Junior School. This was in honor of Canada’s former Governor General. It continued to educate generations of children. However the school closed its doors in 1983. The Toronto District School Board sold the property in 2017. A developer bought it.

Yet the building’s story doesn’t end there. In 1985 Vincent Massey Academy took over. It transformed the space into a daycare and nursery school. This Reggio Emilia-inspired school offers care for children from infants to grade three. It’s a vibrant center for learning and growth. Vincent Massey Academy even opened a second campus in 2014. This campus is located at 432 Horner Avenue. It caters to infants and preschoolers.
