Founded as a beacon of knowledge, the Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul (USCS) has a rich history. It all began on August 1, 1968. The USCS first opened its doors as the Faculdade Municipal de Ciências Econômicas, Políticas e Sociais. Imagine those first 130 students, eager to learn and shape their futures. The Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul quickly evolved. In 1970, it transitioned to the Instituto Municipal de Ensino Superior de São Caetano do Sul (IMES), still nestled in its traditional campus on Avenida Goiás. The USCS continued to grow. It reached university center status in 2000, expanding its academic offerings. The Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul embraced the new millennium with a new campus in the city center in 2004. This campus housed law, health, and education programs, reflecting the USCS’s commitment to serving the community. Officially recognized as a university that same year, the Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul further solidified its role as a key educational institution. The USCS underwent another transformation in 2007. It officially became the Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul (USCS). This marked a new era of autonomy and growth for the institution. Today, the Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul stands as a testament to its own evolution. It offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including a medical school added in 2014. With campuses across São Caetano do Sul and even one in São Paulo, the USCS continues to expand its reach. More than 23,000 students have graduated from the Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul. Their successes echo the university’s motto, “Knowledge Transforms,” a principle driving the USCS since its humble beginnings.
