“A university born from prayer? That’s unusual” you might think. But that’s exactly the story of the Universidad Católica de Honduras – Campus Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Right here in Comayagüela, stands one of the eleven campuses of this unique institution. It all began in 1990 with a vision. A group led by Dr. Elio Alvarenga and Father Lucas Mcgrath dreamt of a place where education met spirituality. Their prayers were answered. In 1992, Monseñor Héctor Enrique Santos gave his blessing, and the Universidad Católica de Honduras, lovingly known as UNICAH, was born. The first campus, however, wasn’t here. It was in Tegucigalpa, inaugurated in 1993 with just 77 students. Over time, UNICAH expanded, reaching out to more young minds across Honduras. The Campus Sagrado Corazón de Jesús is a testament to that commitment to accessible, quality education. It’s a place where knowledge and faith go hand in hand, shaping future leaders of Honduras.
