Standing before Ulvsundaskolan, can you imagine children’s laughter echoing through its halls since 1950? The school initially known as Johannesfredsskolan is a place where young minds begin their educational journey.
Ulvsundaskolan is located on Johannesfredsvägen in Bromma. Architect Björn Hedvall designed it. His vision took shape in 1948. The school officially opened two years later.
Today Ulvsundaskolan serves as a primary school for students in pre-school class through grade 3. After grade 3, the children move on to Alviksskolan. Ulvsundaskolan is an annex to Alviksskolan. Earlier, Ulvsundaskolan also housed grades 4 to 6.
In the academic year 2012-2013, Ulvsundaskolan had a pre-school class and a first grade class called Räven. It also included the classes Lodjuret and Järven. These were two age-integrated classes for grades 1-3. Over 90 children attended the school.
Ulvsundaskolan shares its building and grounds with Lunaskolan. Lunaskolan is an independent school for children with special needs. Both schools have roughly the same number of students.
The large schoolyard offers ample space for play. It features asphalt, a soccer field, and a playground. A small wooded area behind the school provides a natural retreat for outdoor activities. Ulvsundaskolan’s building has three floors.
In 1951, artist Einar Forseth created murals for Ulvsundaskolan. These murals adorn the stairwell. They depict scenes of Stockholm and Bromma.
Near the schoolyard’s stairs stands a bronze sculpture. It is called Lodjuret, meaning Lynx. Sculptor Arvid Knöppel created it.
