Ulriksdals Wärdshus is neighbors with Ulriksdal Palace the Confidencen theater and the Orangery. It is also an ideal place to enjoy a Swedish smörgåsbord. In December a traditional julbord or Christmas buffet is served.
Once peasants cleared their throats here. They traveled to sell their crops in the 17th century. The first inn stood in the mountaineer’s house built in 1671 later known as Confidencen.
Carl-Mikael Bellman a troubadour frequented the inn. At that time it was housed in a wooden building called Ottilielund. He wrote about Ulriksdal in his ballads celebrating food and drink.
In 1855 Maid Wahlquist managed the inn. She worried when she could no longer serve alcohol. She was limited to running a temperance movement. Later Ottilielund became a dwelling and the inn returned to Confidencen.
The manager A G Carlsson requested permission to build a new building in 1867. His request was granted in 1868. He promised to serve warm and cold food and drinks at low prices to the military and royal staff.
