There is also an oak-covered hill known as Eklunden. Eklunden offers a unique burial option. Graves here are marked by a simple natural stone. No elaborate headstones are permitted. The size is a modest 60 x 60 cm.
The administrative and economic building is an architectural marvel. Designed by Petra Gipp Arkitektur and In Praise of Shadows Arkitektur this striking structure was nominated for the Best Nordic Building 2011 award. Petra Gipp herself received the 2012 Årets Betongarkitekt award for her work. The building features three angular volumes arranged around a courtyard. It’s intended to serve as a welcoming gateway to the park and cemetery. The southern section houses workshops and space for a future chapel. The east wing has administrative and staff offices on two levels. The north wing is a storage building. The exterior is a stunning blend of prefabricated concrete elements and oiled pine wood.
