This real estate company, with its ant logo, commissioned this artwork. But why ants? The story goes back to the 1950s when Lennart Wallenstam, the company’s founder, sought a symbol. He saw a parallel between ants and his company. Both were builders, meticulous in choosing their locations, committed to community. Ants, like Wallenstam, were social, hardworking, and resilient. The sculptor, Torgny Larsson, was inspired by the proverb “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise”. He envisioned the ants symbolizing a father and son working together, a nod to Lennart and his son, Hans, who later led the company.
