Did you ever hear of a park named after a cottage? Tussmöteparken, right here in Stureby, takes its name from the Tussmötetorpet cottage. This triangular park, nestled between Tussmötevagen, Kubikenborgsvägen, and Uddeholmsvägen, has a fascinating story. Tussmöteparken officially became a park in 1948. The city planners envisioned two green spaces for the residents of Stureby. One became Tussmöteparken. The other, near Vivstavarvsvägen, was named Vivstavarvsparken. Originally, Tussmöteparken had designated areas for parkland and sports. A road was planned to connect Avmätarvägen through the park. This road was never built. Now a peaceful walkway meanders through the area. The Stureby sports field was built in the 1940s. The northern part of Tussmöteparken, however, remained undeveloped until the 1970s when a preschool was built. In 2012, the city decided to expand the preschool with a temporary pavilion. This pavilion was intended to house the children while a new permanent preschool was built on Ramviksvägen. This construction caused quite a bit of controversy among the residents. Tussmöteparken continues to be a vital part of the Stureby community. It offers a green oasis amidst the bustling city.
