The initial design called for a top speed of 160 km/h. However adjustments were made. The final design speed became 120 km/h. That being said. The possibility of increasing it to 150 or even 160 km/h later is still being considered. This seemingly minor detail reflects the meticulous planning of this massive project.
The last breakthrough happened in June 2020. A monumental achievement. The project wasn’t without its challenges. There were plan changes setbacks even debates over noise levels. A 5500 square meter soundproof roof was initially planned for the construction site near Pragtunnel. This would have significantly reduced the noise pollution. Ultimately it was deemed impractical. An underground storage facility was constructed instead.
The Tunnel Feuerbach isn’t just concrete and steel. It’s a testament to human ingenuity. It represents years of planning construction and compromise. A marvel of modern engineering.
