Established in 1987 Tuen Mun Government Secondary School stands as a beacon of learning. It began as one of the full-time schools under the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese. Tuen Mun Government Secondary School is a co-educational government-aided school.
Initially only Form 1 classes were running on another school campus. The current campus for Tuen Mun Government Secondary School opened in September 1988. In 1988 Form 4 classes began. Matriculation level classes ran until 2012. This was when the new senior secondary school curriculum was introduced.
Tuen Mun Government Secondary School has a clear vision. It nurtures students with five Catholic core values. These values are Truth Justice Love Life and Family. Since 2019 the school planned to implement two policies. These are specialized teaching and small class teaching. To facilitate learning efficacy Tuen Mun Government Secondary School recruited teachers. These graduated teachers have corresponding disciplines. This specialized teaching aims at maximizing potentials. It benefits both teachers and students. The school adopts the small class teaching method. A class has a capacity of around 26 students. This plan aims to cater to diversity among students. It fosters the effectiveness of learning and teaching. Currently except for F.3 and F.6 there are 5 groups in each form at Tuen Mun Government Secondary School.
The school also adopts a specific language policy. It runs both EMI classes. English is the medium of instruction for almost all subjects. There are also CMI classes. Subjects like English Language Mathematics and Science use English. This is the medium of instruction. For the senior levels English is the major medium of instruction. Located at 393 Castle Peak Road Tuen Mun Government Secondary School uses English as the major medium of instruction. It is estimated as Band 1C–1B. This means it is a high-ranking school.
