Tucked away on ĐT. 830 in Cần Giuộc district, Long An, Tu Phong Pagoda offers a tranquil escape. Tu Phong Pagoda may not have the grandeur of some of Vietnam’s larger temples. Yet, its serene atmosphere and unique charm make it a worthy destination. The vibrant colors of red, gold, white, grey, and yellow adorn the pagoda. These colors create a visually stunning spectacle. The main gate, located on Ba Thang Hai Street, stands as a testament to traditional Vietnamese architecture. The gate’s three entrances are guarded by majestic lion statues. The name “VIỆT NAM QUỐC TỰ” is proudly displayed on a red signboard. Four pillars bear inscriptions, each conveying a message of peace and prosperity. The main building of Tu Phong Pagoda is a marvel of design. Its multi-tiered structure is topped with red curved roofs. These roofs are decorated with intricate dragon and phoenix ornaments. The centerpiece of Tu Phong Pagoda is the Main Hall. This hall houses Vietnam’s largest bronze Buddha statue. This impressive statue stands at 7.5 meters tall and weighs 35 tons. The hall also features seven wooden Buddha statues and a pair of intricately decorated candles. The 13-story stupa is another remarkable feature of Tu Phong Pagoda. Each floor of the stupa represents one of the thirteen Buddhist organizations that participated in a historic protest in 1963. This protest was against religious inequality. The stupa’s red-brown roofs are adorned with phoenix ornaments. The yellow painted walls and numerous windows add to its visual appeal. Tu Phong Pagoda is more than just a place of worship. It’s a place of peace, reflection, and cultural significance.
