Did you know that Tsz Ching Estate stands on the former site of older housing blocks? Tsz Ching Estate is a public housing estate in Tsz Wan Shan. It is in Kowloon, Hong Kong. This estate sits next to Tsz Oi Court. Tsz Ching Estate has eleven residential blocks. These were completed between 1993 and 2001.

Let’s go back a bit. The site was once Blocks 48 to 53 of Tsz Wan Shan Estate. That area was also called “Tsz Ching Estate”. After redevelopment, the eastern part of Old Tsz Oi Estate became part of Tsz Ching Estate.

Nearby, Tsz Oi Court is also significant. It is a Home Ownership Scheme court. It sits next to Tsz Ching Estate. This area used to be Tsz Oi Estate. It included Blocks 33 to 47 of Tsz Wan Shan Estate. In 1985, Block 40 had structural problems. The Hong Kong Housing Authority discovered them. After fixing things up, the estate became HOS housing. It grew into 3 phases. Phase 1 and 2 have six blocks that were built in 1997. Phase 3 has six blocks from 2000.

Tsz Ching Estate includes several houses. There is Ching Tak House that was completed in 1993. Ching Fai House was finished in 1996. Ching Hong House also stands here. You will find Ching On House and Ching Wo House completed in 1999. Then there are Ching Yi House, Ching Tai House, and Ching Yuk House. Ching Yuk House was the last one completed in 2001. Also you have Ching Ming House and Ching Yuen House. Plus an Ancillary Facilities Block.

Tsz Oi Court includes Oi Wai House built in 1997. Also there are Oi Yin House and Oi Kan House. You can see Oi Ning House and Oi Yan House. Then there are Oi Chung House and Oi Fu House finished in 2000. Also Oi Yue House, Oi Wing House, Oi Wah House, Oi Hong House, and Oi Cheung House.

In 2016, the census counted the people living here. Tsz Ching Estate had 25844 residents. Tsz Oi Court had 12635 residents. Together, that is 38479 people.

The District Council elections also matter here. Tsz Ching Estate falls into two areas. Most of it is in the Ching On area. Ching Tak House, Ching Wo House, and Tsz Oi Court are in the Ching Oi area.

Tsz Ching Estate stands as a testament to Hong Kong’s public housing. It shows how communities evolve. From older estates to modern living spaces it adapts to the needs of its residents.
