Established in 1961 Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School stands proudly. It’s a testament to Hong Kong’s commitment to education. This school wasn’t just another building. Initially housed in Hoi Pa Street Government Primary School’s temporary quarters. Sixty-eight boys and seventy-five girls shared limited space. The school quickly outgrew its temporary home. By September 1963 the growing student body needed more classrooms. A split-session system was implemented to accommodate everyone. This meant morning and afternoon classes. Finally in June 1964 the school moved to its new permanent campus. A whole-day schedule resumed.

The official opening ceremony was grand. The Governor of Hong Kong David Trench attended. He served as the Guest of Honour. A plaque commemorating this event still stands in the main lobby. It’s a tangible link to the school’s rich past.

Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School’s academic record is impressive. It boasts an exceptional history of academic excellence. In fact its students achieved remarkable results on the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination. More students achieved 10 A grades than any other secondary school in Hong Kong. This is a phenomenal accomplishment. The school also produced many students with 9 As and numerous students with multiple As in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination. It consistently ranks among the top secondary schools. The school counts 12 winners of the prestigious Hong Kong Outstanding Students Awards.
