Established at the junction of Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road and Cheung Wan Street, Tsing Yi Fire Station has a rich history. Tsing Yi Fire Station was the first fire station on Tsing Yi Island. It became essential due to the island’s population boom in the late 1970s. The station also served the crucial role of protecting the developing oil storage and heavy industries in the south and west. Imagine the pressure on those early firefighters, as the island transformed around them. Tsing Yi Fire Station stood as the sole guardian against potential disasters. As the industrial landscape and population continued to grow, the demands on Tsing Yi Fire Station multiplied. A new station, Tsing Yi South Fire Station, was eventually built to share the load. This new station, located near Nam Wan on Tsing Yi Road, took on the responsibility of protecting the growing industrial sector and increasing number of oil depots. This allowed Tsing Yi Fire Station to focus on the needs of the island’s growing community. The strategic placement of Tsing Yi Fire Station is noteworthy. It stands between the Tsing Yi Police Station and a PCCW telephone exchange, under the watchful gaze of a Tin Hau Temple. Nearby, you’ll also find the Chung Mei Road Temporary Playground. The station itself isn’t just a simple building. It boasts a drill tower for training exercises and a dedicated foam store for firefighting equipment. Tsing Yi Fire Station remains a testament to the foresight and dedication of Hong Kong’s fire services.
