“Nose-tip headland” is what the Chinese name for Tsim Bei Tsui literally means. Today, we stand at the Tsim Bei Tsui Lookout. This area in Yuen Long District offers stunning views. It is located in the northwestern part of Hong Kong’s New Territories.

Tsim Bei Tsui faces Deep Bay. This location provides a unique perspective. You can see the natural scenery of Mai Po to the east. To the west, you can witness the magnificent views of Deep Bay and Shenzhen.

This area is the estuary of three rivers. They are the Tin Shui Wai, Shan Pui and Kam Tin rivers. These waterways converge here. They create a dynamic environment.

Kwai Shan, or Turtle Hill, is nearby. It is a 71-meter-high hill. Its shape resembles a turtle. Hence, the name Turtle Hill.

Tsim Bei Tsui is also important for conservation. Two parts are designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The first site features mangrove. It covers 2.5 hectares along the seafront. The second site is the Tsim Bei Tsui Egretry. It spans 4.8 hectares. This egretry includes two feng shui groves. These groves are located south of Tsim Bei Tsui.

Over the years, sediments from the Shenzhen River have shaped the coast into a vast bay. During ebb tides, the bay transforms into an expansive mudflat. This mudflat provides food for various species. Living creatures thrive in this area.

From Tsim Bei Tsui Lookout, you see more than just a view. You witness a dynamic interplay of nature. Rivers meet the sea. Conservation efforts protect valuable habitats. The mudflat sustains life. All these elements combine. They create a fascinating landscape. Take a moment to appreciate this. It is a place where nature and conservation meet.
