Triangle House

Gazing up at this striking structure, you’re standing before Triangle House. It’s a building that has truly transformed itself over the years. Originally known as Safmarine House, Triangle House was completed in 1993. It was the brainchild of Louis Karol Architects and built by Murray & Roberts Construction, now known as Concor. Imagine the city’s excitement, as it had been over two decades since a new skyscraper graced the Cape Town skyline. Triangle House proudly held the title of the tallest building in Cape Town for 21 years, until the completion of Portside Tower in 2014. The original name, Safmarine House, honored its first occupant, the South African shipping company Safmarine. Old Mutual Investment Group Property Investments originally owned this architectural marvel. The building’s distinctive cruciform design isn’t just for show. This clever architectural choice maximizes natural light, ventilation, and of course, those breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean for each of the units. Notice the elegant exterior, clad in a combination of Rosa Duna, Rock Face, and Rustenberg granite, giving it a unique and timeless appearance. In 2017, Triangle House underwent a dramatic transformation. The office spaces were converted into 166 residences and a luxurious 5-star Radisson Blu Hotel. This ambitious project, spearheaded by Signatura property group and Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, cost a staggering R1 billion. The hotel occupied the ground floor up to the 11th floor, while the residences filled the floors above, up to the 23rd. More recently, in 2023, the hotel component was sold to Kasada, a real estate private equity firm, and rebranded as the Pullman Cape Town City Centre, managed by the Accor group. While the name and management changed, the stunning decor and amenities remain, offering guests a truly world-class experience.
